The Dental Recovery Plan: Perspectives from across the profession

On Wednesday 7 February, the long-awaited Dental Recovery Plan was finally published. Promised almost 12 months ago, Victoria Atkins, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, wrote in the Plan's foreword that ‘dentistry is a priority for this government'.1

The plan sets up a ‘new patient premium', which will give a bonus to dentists seeing a patient that hasn't undergone treatment in two years - £15 to first see them, £50 if they need significant work done. It also raises the minimum Unit of Dental Activity (UDA) value from the current level of £25.33 to £28.
