Ferroptosis inducers(erastin, sorafenib, or sulfasalazine) activate ferritinophagy and AMPK phosphorylation, which consequently suppresses nuclear translocation of SREBP1, and inhibits the transcription of its direct target gene BCAT2. BCAT2 is a suppressor of ferroptosis by regulating intracellular glutamate levels.
