The authors regret that several figures are affected by immunoblots and microphotographs that were inadvertently duplicated in their original article, likely due to errors during figure assembly and splitting of a prior version of this article into two independent papers, one that was published before in PLoS One 2008 Jun 18;3(6):e2458. https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0002458 (PMID: 18560558) and the paper published in Cell Death and Differentiation for which this correction applies.

The authors have retrieved the original confocal microscopy data and immunoblot films to issue the following corrected figures:

For the sake of completeness, the authors should have mentioned in the Cell Death & Differentiation paper that several of the immunoblots shown in Fig. 4A of the Cell Death & Differentiation paper (phosphorylated NBS1, NBS1 and GAPDH) are also shown in Fig. 3d of the PLoS One paper.

The authors apologize for these errors that do not affect the central hypothesis of the paper and do not alter the conclusion of the work either.
