Sadeghi et al. [1] conducted a compelling cross-sectional study examining the association between retino-choroidal thickness, vascular parameters, and drusen volume—a biomarker indicative of disease severity in age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The study employed swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (SS-OCTA) to assess retino-choroidal thickness and microvascular characteristics in patients with non-exudative AMD. Their findings demonstrated that drusen volume is more strongly correlated with choroidal metrics, specifically choroidal thickness (ChT) and the choroidal vascularity index (CVI), than with retinal thickness or vascular perfusion. Nonetheless, several elements of the study warrant further clarification and interpretation.
