Table 2 Therapeutic lifestyle changes for managing hypertension

From: Prescription of exercise training for hypertensives

1. Salt restriction <6 g/day

2. Diet Rich in fruits and vegetables

   Rich in low-fat dairy products and reduced in saturated fat and cholesterol

3. Body weight reduction BMI = 18.5–24.9 kg/m2

4. Exercise adoption Aerobic, at least 30 min/day, at least 5 days/week

5. Alcohol limitation Men < 30 g/day, Women < 20 g/day as ethanol

6. Cessation of smoke Complete abstinence
