Continuous data meeting normal distribution were described as mean ± standard deviation and an analysis of variance (independent t test) was performed to compare the differences among the four groups (between the two groups). Otherwise median (Q1, Q3) and the Kruskal–Wallis H-test (Mann–Whitney U-test) was used. Categorical data were described as number of cases (%) and a χ2 test was selected to compare the differences.
