We are pleased to announce the editorial structure and keywords for Hypertension Research global initiatives 2025. Hypertension is the biggest risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, yet it is still poorly controlled and there are large regional differences globally.
Hypertension Research is the official journal of the Japanese Society of Hypertension (JSH) with a 47-year history. It has grown significantly with the support of many domestic and international hypertension researchers. In 2024, the number of submissions exceeded 1235 papers, and the Impact Factor 2023 holds at 4.3. The 45th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Society of Hypertension (JSH2024 FUKUOKA) was held, with 119 abstracts submitted. A total of 33 online Fast Track papers were published in the Special Issue—JSH2024 Fast Track in February 2025. We would like to thank the authors, reviewers, Associate Editors, JSH members, readers, and the publisher Springer Nature for their contributions.
The annual Update and Perspectives will be held again this year. This is a popular project in which articles accepted for publication in Hypertension Research during the year are summarized for readers by dividing them into the following themes.

Now, let me introduce highly reliable and cutting-edge members of the Editorial Board to readers (Supplementary file 1).
Comprising seasoned veterans to young researchers, they hail from 21 countries internationally, actively contributing to submissions, peer reviews, and more. We sincerely appreciate their valuable contributions.
We have focused on seven themes and publishing special issues; Asian Study: Current evidence and perspectives for hypertension management in Asia [1], Renal Denervation and Sympathetic Nerve System [2], Digital Hypertension [3], Home Blood Pressure-Centered Management of Hypertension [4] and including a new theme “Guideline Special Issue” for the Guidelines. In Europe, the ESH 2023 guidelines [5] and ESC 2024 guidelines had been announced [6], and this year, JSH will also release JSH2025 guidelines. From now on, we will implement these guidelines in clinical practice [6]. As the model of implementation hypertension, we focused on “morning hypertension” as the screening and control targets of hypertension-related risk [7]. In 2025, we have added these new themes—“Implementation Hypertension” and ”Morning Hypertension” (Fig. 1).

Implementation Hypertension [7]
It is important to achieve effective real-world implementation of the recommendations in the guidelines by ESH2023, ESC2024, and JSH. In this Topical Issue, the articles on the following topics on implementation of detection and control of hypertension are encouraged to submit to Hypertension Research: (1) Clinical Inertia and Therapy Adherence, (2) Non-Pharmacological Treatments, (3) New Medications and Drug Combinations, (4) Community Initiatives, and others.
Morning Hypertension [7]
Morning hypertension, which is difficult to control, is associated with organ damage and future cardiovascular events. The JSH now initiates the campaign of morning hypertension control. In this Topical Issue, the articles on all the clinical, epidemiological, and experimental topics on morning hypertension are encouraged to submit to Hypertension Research.
We hope that Hypertension Research will become a platform for the dissemination and exchange of your academic activities and research information for healthcare and medical professionals and researchers around the world. If you are interested in Hypertension Research, we also warmly welcome you as Guest Editors. We look forward to your valuable contributions.
