Summary of proposed roles of Bmp8b in AT. BMP8b overexpression in adipocytes and subsequent hyper-activation of the sympathetic tone induce the recruitment of thermogenic beige adipocytes in ScW which are accompanied by the expansion of the sympathetic nervous and vascular networks. BMP8b notably promotes outgrowth and branching of sympathetic nerve axons, through NRG4 production, and the production of new capillaries by regulating the function of vascular cells and production of angiogenic factors
