Laboratory measurements of grazing rates. Data are presented for microzooplankton (black lines and symbols) and mixotrophs (gray lines and symbols). For comparison, all rates have been normalized to grazing rates in darkness (light level = 0). The dashed line at fold difference = 1 indicates the expected relative grazing rate when grazing is not affected by light. In all but one of the studies surveyed, grazing rates increased with increasing light availability. Note log scale of both axes
