Plots of geochemical and mineralogical data of reaction products against reaction time. The geochemical major element concentrations for the reaction products in the 0.03 M ZnCl2 experiments (a) and in the 0.03 M ZnO experiments (b), as well as the relative mineral abundance for the reaction products in the 0.03 M ZnCl2 experiments (c) and in the 0.03 M ZnO experiments (d) demonstrate very similar dolomitization reaction rates which are both accelerated compared to Zn-free solutions. The ZnO (zincite) experiments show dissolution of zincite within the first three hours of the experiment and significantly larger amount of simonkolleite formed in the reaction (d) compared to the ZnCl2 experiments (c)
