Schematic of the NEXAFS microscope. The system uses magnetic projection electron imaging with a nearly 100% collection efficiency and a large depth of field, which allows the analysis of corrugated samples and sample rotation. Auger electrons are forced to follow the magnetic field lines on helical orbits and analyzed by a grid energy analyzer and detected by phosphor screen and a CCD camera
