The mechanical properties of SiNP/CNT-DNA composites can be adjusted by enzymatic polymerization of DNA-modified nanoparticles. The utility of the resulting “SC materials” for cell-substrate engineering is demonstrated by control of cellular adhesion, proliferation, lateral, and vertical motility, as well as by expansion and release of embryonic stem cells by simplified procedures.
