Histograms of trial-averaged Ca2+ response amplitudes for pooled populations of cells (a upper: n = 1314 cells pooled from eight naive animals, lower: n = 1112 cells pooled from 18 animals imaged with Cal-520; b upper and lower: the same n = 423 cells pooled from 10 animals imaged with GCaMP6f). Each histogram is fitted by a lognormal function, and the inset panel shows an enlarged view of the histogram tail for Δf/f ≥ 1.5 (Cal-520) and Δf/f ≥ 1.0 (GCaMP6f).
