The model calculates impacts on the climate system due to DAC deployment and comprises three main parts: (1) an estimate of the financial resources available to fund DAC; (2) deployment of a fleet of DAC plants, including requisite supplies of electricity and heat, and upscaling of these DAC-energy system combinations over time; and (3) the impact of these DAC-energy systems on atmospheric CO2 concentration and global mean surface temperature, given background emissions which are taken from the shared socioeconomic pathways (SSP).
