The circadian repressor REV-ERB regulates HBV and HDV entry into hepatocytes through modulating viral receptor NTCP expression. BMAL1 binds the HBV genome and promotes transcription and particle genesis. Activating REV-ERB with synthetic agonists or protein overexpression inhibits BMAL1 and represses HBV replication.
