a Plateau change of knockdown factor, Δκp, as a function of external magnetic flux density, Ba, is presented for shells with different defect widths, \({\overline{\varphi }}_{\circ }=\{1.0,2.0,3.2,4.0\}\), and in different radius-to-thickness ratios, R/h = {50, 100, 200, 400} (as detailed in the legend). Results are obtained by the axisymmetric shell model. b Collapse of the data by plotting Δκp versus the magneto-elastic buckling number Λm. Experimental and theoretical results are juxtaposed, showing excellent agreement. A linear fit on the data indicates a slope of 1.26 ± 0.01.
