In this figure, the total number of pulses M is 5 × 109. δ and ν in Eq. (6) and Eq. (7) are 0.22 and 97%, respectively. The detector’s dark-count rate is 100 Hz and η = 0.25 is considered as the detector efficiency (25%). The detection window is 500 ps. The average photon number μ is 1000. Note that this figure just shows an example of the probability distributions. Hence, the value of μ is not necessarily optimal and the corresponding error probability might be large.
