The central open circle refers to the ion concentration range when the river ecosystem is in a healthy state. Colored annuli refer to ion concentrations that exceed prescribed thresholds, causing river syndromes. Colored dots in (A–G) denote measured data, and colored lines indicate the three-year moving average.
