The figure summarizes our findings and the complexity of myeloma evolution seen in this study. It includes spatial heterogeneity at baseline and after treatment, a link between subclones and growth patterns, resistant clones that may be hidden/quiescent over many years of follow-up, as well as the emergence of multiple selective clonal sweeps derived from single cells, diversification of expanding subclones and competition between them.
