a E. coli expressing the 33-repeat PbINP construct were assayed for the fraction of droplets frozen (fice) as a function of temperature for different dilutions of the starting culture on the WISDOM apparatus. The red, gold, green, and blue curves are for 100-fold, 1000-fold, 10,000-fold, and 100,000-fold dilutions, respectively. The curves are the mean of three measurements and the inflection points are marked with the transition temperature and the fraction of frozen droplets at that point. b Nucleation curves for cold-acclimated P. borealis that were diluted and treated identically.
