Namely, ΔTXx/ΔT and ΔTNn/ΔT, where ΔT is the local changes in annual mean temperatures (Fig. 1d). TXx and TNn are used here and below to denote seasonal extremes, unless otherwise specified. MAM denotes March-April-May, JJA June-July-August, SON September-October-November and DJF December-January-February. Regions showing a major warming are highlighted.
