a Where microscopy (here PLI) informs on fibre orientations within the microscopy plane, the through plane was approximated by that from postmortem diffusion MRI (Ball and Stick model20, b = 10 ms/μm2, 1 mm). b The hybrid orientations were combined into fibre orientation distributions at increasing in-plane resolutions. c The hybrid FODs can be input into pre-existing tractography methods to successfully reconstruct in white matter bundles such as the corticospinal tract.
