Panel (a) shows the maximum cyclonic wind speed associated with this storm as it passes over Europe. The black line with black dots shows the path of the cyclone centre. Panel (b) shows the Meteorological Storm Severity Index (METSSI) for the same cyclone. Panel (c) shows the Socio-economic Storm Severity Index (SOCSSI) for the same storm. The SOCSSI is a population-weighted severity index using the historical population estimate.
