Unbiased pathway analysis revealed that neuronal circRNA production was clustered around synapse function and neuronal projection loci, while in non-neuronal cells circRNA production clustered around cell cycle loci. Enriched Gene Ontology terms for the host genes of circRNAs specifically expressed in each cell type are shown (Fisher’s exact test, Benjamini–Hochberg corrected P < 0.05).
