a Annual emissions of SF6 in each subregion during 2011–2021. The definition of the subregions can be found in Supplementary Fig. 3. The numeric emission values can be found in Supplementary Data 3. The error bars represent the 68% uncertainty intervals. b Contribution of each subregion to the national SF6 emissions increase from 2011–2013 to 2019–2021. The increase was calculated as the mean 2019-2021 emissions minus the mean 2011–2013 emissions. The sum of the percentages in plot b is larger than 100%, as the emissions from northeast of China decreased over the period. The plots for spatial distributions of SF6 emissions are shown in Supplementary Fig. 4. The plots for spatial distributions of incremental emissions during the inversion (a posteriori emissions minus a priori emissions) are presented in Supplementary Fig. 5.
