An illustration of temperature-dependent adsorption behavior observed for some vapor adsorbates (A, B and C) in flexible adsorbents. The trend of sorbent-sorbate interactions: A (red) > B (blue) > C (green); T1 (solid lines) <T2 (dotted lines). For the same type of adsorbates, the molecular size scale is typically A < B < C. The black arrow emphasizes the distinctly different adsorption behavior of molecule B at two temperatures. Such a behavior can be used to separate a ternary mixture of A/B/C at different temperatures.
