The SOURCE cohort included 380 participants. In China, 40 newly-diagnosed Crohn disease (CD) patients and 121 healthy residents of Guangzhou (urban Ctl) and 162 healthy residents of Shaoguan district (all rural controls), a rural underdeveloped community 300 km north of Guangzhou.
