A Schematic representation of glycerol fermentation to isobutanol. By deleting the native lactate synthesis route (ΔldhA), the metabolic flux can be re-directed towards isobutanol. The genes for isobutanol synthesis are expressed from the pIBA plasmid (optimized pIBA441). The isobutanol pathway scheme was adapted from Ghosh et al. 41.
