The two-pronged delivery of SP-D and SP-P modulates the DCs in the draining lymph nodes inducing type 1 cytokine secretion and co-signal expression, generates regulatory and memory responses in both CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, and induces both anti-p210 IgM and IgG antibodies to achieve an atheroprotective effect.
