The percentage of mellitic acid (B6CA) and benzenepentacarboxylic acid (B5CA) in the total benzene polycarboxylic acids (PB6CA+B5CA) serves as an indicator of the overall condensation degree of the polycyclic aromatics, while the B6CA/B5CA ratio reflects the size of the confined aromatic domains. The data presented in this figure are derived from a reorganization of the data in Fig. 3. The arrowed lines depict the co-evolution trajectory of PB6CA+B5CA and B6CA/B5CA for terrestrial analogs.
