During the offline embedding phase, intermediate activations from superficial embeddings are temporarily cached in RAM to compute coarse-grained embeddings. After each batch, these activations are sequentially invalidated from RAM. During the query phase, cached embeddings that match the incoming query are loaded to compute fine-grained embeddings and are immediately invalidated afterward.
