Before the trial starts, a cue was shown to indicate if the trial was a distractor or a no distractor trial. At 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, and 3.5 s, a stimulus was shown for 0.5 s, followed by a 0.5 s delay period. The shaded areas mark the presentation of the stimuli. The subject was to remember the rotation of the bar and the color of the dot in the middle of the bar. After presentation of the four items, one of the four colors were shown, telling the subject to recall the rotation of the matching bar. Source data are provided as a Source Data file.
