Projections and resulting patterned polymers for (a) a square “U” with 180° front redirection (b) a 90° radiused arrow and traffic island patterns with (c) a rectangular island and (d) an elongated hexagonal island, showing how geometry can impact inhibition and breakout. Thermal images for the sample with the hexagonal island show FROMP back propagation through the inhibited area when the parallel propagating fronts converge, whereas with the square inhibition area breakout into the central region does not occur when the fronts converge. FROMP photopatterned (e) tensile bars and (f) turbine blades with embedded struts are also presented. Scale bars are 10 mm.
