In the object encoding phase, infants were presented with a series of objects, alternately assigned to themselves, or to a puppet. In the subsequent memory test phase, these objects were presented on a screen alongside a second similar but modified object, and infants’ memory for the objects was tested with a preferential looking paradigm (details see text).
