The Editors would like to alert the readers that concerns have been raised regarding the data presented in Figs. 1 and 5. Specifically:

  • Fig. 1e (MTX-MP 72 h) and Fig. 5a (First) appear similar;

  • Fig. 1f (Control) and Fig. 5a (Control) also appear to overlap.

The authors have stated that the errors occurred due to similar morphology of the presented groups, and have been able to replicate the results described in the article. However, due to the age of the article, the original data are no longer available. Readers are therefore advised to interpret these results with caution.

Ke Tang and Meng Lv agree with this Editorial Expression of Concern. The publisher has not been able to obtain current email addresses for Dapeng Li and Foad Katirai. None of the other authors have responded to any correspondence from the publisher about this Editorial Expression of Concern.
