A thermal infrared comparison of the digital camouflage performance between the device and two references (fabric and paint on Al plate). MWIR images captured at distances of (a). 0.5 m and b 10 m, LWIR images captured at distances of (c). 0.5 m and d 10 m. For the MWIR and LWIR bands, the samples are placed on a hot plate at 100 °C. The corresponding optical images of the device and the references are shown in Fig. 4a.
