For the sake of clarity, the energies are not scaled. The zero-field splitting is depicted for the triplet state. Intersystem crossing can occur between \({\,}^{1}{A}^{\prime}\)(e) and the ms = 0 of \({\,}^{3}{A}^{\prime}\) state by spin-orbit interaction (solid line) whereas electron–phonon coupling weakly enables it towards the ms = {x, y} states.
