Increasing the thickness of the NbAs (001) slabs (results shown for 24AL and 40AL) increases the transmission (higher peaks) owing to the larger number of bulk states. Except for the case of 1-atom (As) defect configuration, line defects reduce the transmission at every k-point indicating the absence of protection. For the 1-atom defect, where an atom is removed from the As-terminated surface, transmission is not affected in regions of the Brillouin zone which do not have the localized As-surface states.
