A solution of Ni(COD)2 (55.0 mg, 0.20 mmol) in THF (3 mL) was added to a solution of complex 2 (150.0 mg, 0.20 mmol) in THF (2 mL) at ambient temperature. The mixture was left covered for 6 h without stirring at ambient temperature. Then, black block-like crystals were harvested. Washing the crystals with THF afforded pure 3-U2Ni2Cl2. Yield: 75 mg, 46%. Anal. Calcd (%) for C48H108Cl2N8Ni2P6U2: C, 34.99; H, 6.61; N, 6.80. Found: C, 34.68; H, 6.43; N, 6.47.
