a. Conidial viability under stress conditions. Resting 2×105 Af293, cycloheximide virus-cured, ribavirin virus-cued, and virus-re-infected (RI) conidia were exposed to 3 or 5 mM H2O2, 50 °C, 1 M sorbitol, pH 4.5 or pH 8.5 for additional 4 h and analyzed for CFU. b-e. Relative radial growth of 104 conidia after five days incubation on solid GMM with 3 mM H2O2 (b), 1 M sorbitol (c), at pH = 4.5 (d), or at pH = 8.5 (e). Conidial suspensions were adjusted based on viability staining to account for differences in conidial viability prior to each experiment. The data are derived from a minimum of three biologically independent experiments. Statistical analysis: one-way ANOVA with Tukey’s multiple comparison test.
