PFAS concentrations determined with authentic standards are quantitative, and those determined with structurally similar standards are semi-quantitative measurements (Supplementary Tables 3 and 4). Abbreviations: OH-FTSA (hydroxyl-substituted fluorotelomer sulfonate), FTUSA (fluorotelomer unsaturated sulfonate), PFNA (perfluorononanoate), FTUCA (fluorotelomer unsaturated carboxylate), FT amide-Aca (fluorotelomer amide acetate), FTU amide (fluorotelomer unsaturated amide).
  2. bOne abiotic control was included per time point. 4:2 FTSA ( ~ 6 ppb) and 6:2 FTSA ( ~ 7 ppb) were detected as contaminants in the 8:2 FTSA stock.
  3. cMeasurements represent the averages and standard deviations of four biological replicates per time point except for day 7, which had three replicate samples. All samples were injected once.
