Mean log2-normalized transcript counts for homA and homB are shown for each station after per-cell normalization using the median abundance of ten universal single-copy housekeeping genes. Points represent mean transcript abundance across biological replicates and horizontal error bars show one standard deviation. These fold-change profiles provide a higher-resolution view of per-cell variation in homarine catabolic gene transcription across the latitudinal gradient and complement the absolute transcript abundance patterns shown in Fig. 4 and Extended Data Fig. 7.
