  1. The mesh pattern is simulated on a quadratic domain of length L with no-flux boundary conditions. The rates follow ref. 62. In the simulation, the length unit is chosen as \(1/(10\sqrt{2})\,{\rm{mm}}\) such that the simulation domain has length 20 and the diffusion constants are Dx = 0.4 and Dy,z,a = 0.2 in the simulation units.
