The study area includes key regions of North America (A), South America (D), and Africa (E), as well as the entire regions of Europe (B), Northeast China (C), and Southeast Asia (F). Abbreviations used in the figure are: forest disturbance with different land use drivers (FDD), global forest change (GFC), continuous monitoring of land disturbance (COLD), tropical moist forests (TMF), forest/non-forest (FNF). The data or algorithm indicated by these abbreviations are explained in detail in the subsequent sections.
