From: Integrated meteocean and seismic dataset for AI-based seawater CO2 estimation at Deception Island, Antarctica

Variable name

Units

Description

Date

Timestamp of the observation in local ship time (DD/MM/YY HH:MM).

Latitude

[°] Decimal degrees

Latitude of the observation point (WGS84).

Longitude

[°] Decimal degrees

Longitude of the observation point (WGS84).

Seawater temperature

[°C]

Temperature of surface seawater in degrees Celsius.

Salinity

Practical Salinity [PSS-78] (unitless).

CO2

[µatm]

Partial pressure of CO2 (pCO2) in surface water.

Tidal Elevation

[m]

Sea surface elevation relative to mean sea level.

Solar radiation

[W m−2]

Incident solar radiation measured onboard.

Air temperature

[°C]

Air temperature measured every 10 minutes by the AEMET meteorological station (WMO-89070) at Gabriel de Castilla Base. Values were forward-filled to 1-minute resolution.

Wind speed

[m s−1]

Wind speed measured at 10 meters above ground level every 10 minutes by AEMET at Gabriel de Castilla Base. Values were forward-filled to 1-minute resolution

Seismic events

Binary indicator (0 or 1) of whether a local seismic event was detected during that minute. Derived from the IGN Deception seismic stations.

Seismic events 10-minute average

Number of seismic events Integer ( ≥ 0) detected in the previous 10 minutes, computed as a rolling sum. Unlike the binary Seismic events variable, this value can exceed one.
