  1. 0 point = There was no abnormal swelling of the conjunctival tissue or localised swelling of the conjunctiva visible above normal, most commonly in the periocular region, without ectropion or changes in the contour of the eyelid margins. 1 point = Normal diffuse swelling of the conjunctiva was seen, but there was no eyelid ectropion or change in the contour of the eyelid margins. 2 points = Swelling of the conjunctiva of the eyelid was observed, resulting in eversion/misalignment of the eyelid. The eyelid margins might appear swollen/have an irregular “undulating” contour, but remain fully closed. 3 points = Eyelid conjunctiva was badly swollen and partially or completely blurred. Eyelid closure was incomplete and the exposed globe/eyelid conjunctiva protruded between the eyelid margins. A score of ≤ 1 for each index was considered effective, and the effective rate = number of effective cases/total number of cases×100%.
