Flow diagram of study population selection. Weighted selection of 2,843,915 patients aged ≥ 18 years with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) from the National Inpatient Sample database. A total of 2,151,994 patients were selected after excluding missing data. The selected patients were separated into the AMI undergoing PCI procedure non-paralysis group (2,136,961 patients) and the AMI undergoing PCI procedure paralysis group (15,033 patients). The paralysis group was further divided into the spinal cord injury (SCI) paralysis group (6,711 patients) and the stroke paralysis group (8,322 patients).
