Statistical differences between means are indicated by different letters (a−d) in the same line (p < 0.05). The fraction of DNA in the tail serves as the basis for the Comet scale for DNA damage. Damage classification: none or very low (≤ 5%), low (5–20%), moderate (20–40%), high (40–75%), severe (≥ 75%).
