From: N-acetylcysteine inhibits NETs, exhibits antibacterial and antibiofilm properties and enhances neutrophil function against Burkholderia pseudomallei

NETs promoted Burkholderia pseudomallei biofilm formation. The formation of B. pseudomallei H777 biofilms increased significantly in the presence of NETs compared to the control, RPMI, sPMN and fNETs conditions. Biofilm development over 48 h was examined using crystal violet staining. The experiments were conducted with 8 replicates and repeated on three independent occasions. Data displayed as mean ± SD. Asterisks indicate statistical significance (****p < 0.0001).
