Deletion of pendrin and prone positioning attenuated ventilator-induced lung injury in a mice model, as demonstrated by bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid and histologic findings. Pendrin wild-type (WT) and knockout (KO) mice were subjected to a tracheostomy and ventilation with a supine or prone position at a high tidal volume (HTV) of 30 mL/kg.
